Justice for Victim of Police Brutality in Nigeria – End Extrajudicial Killings Now

We, the undersigned, are outraged and deeply disturbed by the shocking video circulating on social media showing a Nigerian police officer killing a civilian in broad daylight, without remorse, and in full view of the public.

This horrifying act is not only inhumane but also represents a dangerous abuse of power. No matter the alleged offence, no police officer has the right to act as judge, jury, and executioner. Such actions violate the fundamental human rights of Nigerian citizens and erode public trust in law enforcement.

It is unacceptable that an officer could carry out such a brutal act openly, seemingly without fear of consequences. This raises serious concerns about accountability, discipline, and the rule of law within the Nigerian Police Force.

We demand immediate and decisive action.

OUR DEMANDS:

1. A full, transparent, and independent investigation into this incident.
2. Immediate arrest and prosecution of the officer involved.
3. Public disclosure of findings and legal proceedings.
4. Strong disciplinary measures to deter future acts of police brutality.
5. Comprehensive reform of policing practices to protect citizens’ rights.

CALL TO ACTION:

We call on the Inspector General of Police, the Nigerian government, and all relevant authorities to act swiftly and ensure justice is served. Silence or inaction will only embolden further abuse.

Nigeria must not become a place where human life is taken without accountability. Enough is enough.
