Petition to Ministry of Health

Reduce rate of Malaria

Reduce rate of Malaria
15 view

Background

Malaria remains one of the most serious public health challenges in Nigeria. Our country bears one of the highest burdens of malaria in the world, with thousands of lives lost every year — especially among children under five and pregnant women.

Despite efforts over the years, malaria continues to spread due to poor sanitation, limited access to healthcare, insufficient mosquito control, and low public awareness. The economic impact is also severe, reducing productivity and pushing many families deeper into poverty.

Our Demand

We, the undersigned citizens and concerned individuals, call for stronger, coordinated, and sustained action to drastically reduce malaria rates in Nigeria.

We ask for the following key steps to be prioritized across all communities and organizations working to combat malaria:

  1. Expand Access to Mosquito Nets: Ensure every household, especially in rural and high-risk areas, has access to insecticide-treated mosquito nets.

  2. Promote Environmental Sanitation: Organize regular community clean-up campaigns to eliminate stagnant water and improve waste disposal.

  3. Improve Access to Health Services: Strengthen local healthcare centers and ensure affordable malaria testing and treatment are available to everyone.

  4. Increase Public Awareness: Educate families, schools, and workplaces about malaria prevention, symptoms, and early treatment.

  5. Encourage Innovation and Research: Support the development and use of new tools, technologies, and medicines that can help eliminate malaria.

  6. Promote Community Accountability: Encourage local monitoring and reporting of progress toward malaria reduction goals.

Why This Matters

Malaria is not only a health issue — it is a social and economic burden. It affects children’s education, family stability, and national development. Reducing malaria will save lives, strengthen communities, and improve the overall well-being of Nigerians.

Our Call to Action

We invite every Nigerian, health worker, community leader, and organization to unite in this cause. By taking collective action and maintaining consistent effort, we can build a healthier, malaria-free Nigeria.
