Petition Statement:
We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Nigeria, are deeply concerned about the persistent failure of the electricity supply system across the country.
Despite repeated promises and ongoing reforms, millions of Nigerians continue to experience frequent power outages, unstable voltage, and prolonged blackouts. Homes, small businesses, hospitals, schools, and industries are forced to rely heavily on generators and alternative power sources, leading to increased costs, noise pollution, and environmental damage.
The high cost of electricity tariffs, combined with poor service delivery, has placed an unfair burden on citizens. Many consumers are billed for power they do not receive, while prepaid meter shortages and estimated billing remain widespread issues.
Reliable electricity is a fundamental requirement for economic growth, job creation, quality healthcare, education, and national development. Without stable power supply, Nigeria’s progress remains severely limited.
Our Demands:
1. Immediate steps to improve power generation, transmission, and distribution nationwide.
2. Fair and transparent electricity billing systems, with an end to exploitative estimated billings
3. Accelerated distribution of prepaid meters to all consumers
4. Clear communication from power authorities on outages and system upgrades.
5. Long-term investment in sustainable and renewable energy solution
Conclusion:
We respectfully call on the Federal Government and relevant authorities to treat reliable electricity supply as a national priority. Nigerians deserve consistent, affordable, and transparent power services.
By signing this petition, we stand together to demand accountability, reform, and reliable electricity for all.
Signed:
Concerned Citizens of Nigeria
