We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Nigeria, are deeply concerned about the growing environmental degradation and poor waste management practices across the country.
In many cities and communities, refuse is dumped indiscriminately on roadsides, in drainage systems, and in open spaces. Blocked gutters and waterways have led to frequent flooding during the rainy season, destroying homes, businesses, and public infrastructure. Air and water pollution continue to pose serious health risks, especially to children and vulnerable populations.
Despite existing environmental laws and agencies, enforcement remains weak, and public waste management systems are either inadequate or completely absent in many areas. The result is an unhealthy living environment that undermines public health, tourism, economic productivity, and Nigeria’s global image.
Environmental protection is not a luxury—it is a basic necessity. A clean and sustainable environment is essential for public health, climate resilience, and national development.
Our Demands:
1. Strengthening of waste collection, recycling, and disposal systems nationwide.
2. Strict enforcement of environmental laws against illegal dumping and pollution.
3. Regular clearing of drainage systems to prevent flooding.
4. Public awareness campaigns on environmental responsibility and waste separation.
5. Increased funding and accountability for environmental protection agencies.
Conclusion:
We respectfully urge the relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action to protect Nigeria’s environment and ensure effective waste management systems across the country.
By signing this petition, we call for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Nigeria for present and future generations.
